It's funny that those shots don't even hurt when I get them. I like those kind of shots :) I've had many a race where I have to tell myself "it's time to get my sh*t together and just finish this thing!". It does make my arm ache a little bit afterwards, so it's convenient to get it right after a race when everything hurts anyway, but it's really not that bad.Birchwood Piehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01504702778025456387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2862780880843779940.post-44172961324415712042020-10-02T13:54:56.146-04:002020-10-02T13:54:56.146-04:00Fingers crossed Debbie, we're 9 days out and i...Fingers crossed Debbie, we're 9 days out and it's still going forward!!!Birchwood Piehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01504702778025456387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2862780880843779940.post-34036838643339240972020-10-02T13:54:25.420-04:002020-10-02T13:54:25.420-04:00Nice! Running a Half gets me each time especially towards the end, and always reminds me that this distance (although my favourite) is not easy. I think you said it well re: don't care cave! I think I get there too around 18km! For hydration, you may want to invest in a hydration backpack. I've found it so useful for my long runs (and easy to carry) and with more virtual races to come in future it might really help with hydration. The Gaborone Runnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15951125773361296619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2862780880843779940.post-40146246273351481242020-09-28T20:51:08.349-04:002020-09-28T20:51:08.349-04:00Thanks Lisa! I kind of have the same thought process with my virtual courses. I run a 5k that's very flat so it's "OK" to run a flat virtual 5k but I've never run a flat half (and also don't know where I would get 13.1 miles of flat ground to start with).Birchwood Piehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01504702778025456387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2862780880843779940.post-54456833621211022952020-09-28T20:45:32.138-04:002020-09-28T20:45:32.138-04:00I am jealous of your parents. One of the Florida races had a beer finish last year - not really a thing here. I'm not a beer drinker and not for breakfast, but I gave in. Sometimes you have to. What you said about the race courses not always being nice (excuse my paraphrasing) is reality, so I seldom purposely plan a flat ("easy") race course for virtuals.
