NaBloPo: Brinner

Hey Friends, I have a five minute time limit on posting tonight so bear with me!

For all things NaBloPo head over to The Inbetween in Mine

Things that I want you to know from today:

  • Stepson #2 came up with tonight's menu of brinner.  He made the pancakes, hubs made the poached eggs, I made the bacon in the air fryer, and stepson #1 cleaned up afterwards.  Disregard the dark streak on the pancake, that's due to syrup plus midwest winter lighting.  The pancakes were perfection, and square shaped due to trying to cook pancakes for four at one time on the griddle.
  • By some miracle we had exactly five pieces of bacon in the house, so one for each member of the household: the four 2 footers and the one 4 footer.
  • Everyone was a member of the clean plate club tonight.
  • Stepson #1's description of air fried bacon: "It's crispy.  But still floppy".
  • Three of the five of us have the day off tomorrow for Veteran's Day.  To be specific, the boyz and I have the day off.  The dog has never taken a day off in her life and the hubs's employer is not as enlightened as mine.  BTW out of the five of us one is a veteran and it's not me, not the boyz, and not the dog.
  • If you're keeping track, between the day off for voting and the day off for Veteran's Day the boyz had school three days this week and I approve.
  • We celebrated our early Friday with a Cinematic Event.  There can be only one.

Byeeeeee.  See y'all tomorrow!

    1. Yay for private companies that observe government holidays! I hope you had a good day off.

  2. Brinner is a genius idea- I'm doing this soon.
No one in my family has off for Veterans Day. My sister pointed out that it's weird the schools aren't off today in such a red, red state (sigh.) I have no idea what the reasoning is, but I'm glad- they already had three days off this week, one for election day and two for the "hurricane." That's enough!

  3. My guys love brinner - and often they are the ones to make it, so yay!

  4. That looks delicious! I'm glad you explained about the square pancake, at first I thought it was a piece of toast with syrup, which seemed odd.

    1. Yes, sadly it's so dark at dinner now that taking photos is always iffy.

  5. Brinner is something we do way too often, to be honest. I mean, who wants to really cook when you can scramble up some eggs, add some cheese, and call it a meal?

    1. I don't think there's any such thing as too often for brinner. We don't do it enough. I might institute regular Thursday brinner to take another day off meal planning.

  6. I've never heard it called brinner but that's brilliant and is a go-to staple in our household. Until recently we had waffles every Friday and we have scrambled eggs (or some form of egg dish) multiple times a week. Everyone is such a fan and it's easy, filling, delicious...what could be better?

    1. Yum! My takeaway is that we need to do brinner more often.

  8. Oh, brinner. I do love brinner. Unfortunately, I no longer eat eggs... so, brinner for me is usually my most recent sub for eggs as a savory breakfast food. It's this weird, bread-like stuff - that I like! - made from quinoa flour and chickpea flour... it's oddly good, but the texture would turn a lot of people off. Ha. I've had it the last two nights...the benefits of living alone!
