Weekly Eats: French Toast with Love

A weekly round up: eats, watches, and reads.  In this week's edition, hubs made French toast and I have some good TV to talk about.

Breakfasts
The usual suspects of breakfast burritos and variations of eggs and toast.  On Saturday hubs made us french toast and I was very happy about it.

Lunches
Feasted off of my newly restocked freezer. Alternated between spinach mushroom lasagna, boursin pasta, and Korean BBQ stir fry.

Dinners
Monday (family meal): revived leftovers from the night before.  Hubs had the last serving of Beijing beef and the boys and I had the sauce with tofu stir fry.

Tuesday (family meal): lasagna from the freezer.  Bad picture/good food.

Wednesday (date night): cheddar bacon ranch chicken burgers and fries.  We braved a wicked cold spell to get out to the grill.

Thursday (fend for yourself night): veggie burrito

Friday (date night): look at me planning a meal in advance!  White BBQ grilled chicken.  The temperature was milder which made grilling much more pleasant.

Saturday: family bash to celebrate a niece's birthday.  Tacos and an ice cream bar.

Sunday (family meal): sloppy Joe's.  When we came up with the idea, hubs and I had different memories from the last time we made sloppy Joe's.  Hubs remembered that the kids loved them and I remembered that the kids hated them.  Turns out that we were both correct - one kid chowed down and one kid wanted nothing to do with them (don't worry, there are abundant snacking options available for nights when the adults cook weird food).

Next Week's Plan
Ha, there is no plan for the last work week of the year.  We're down to one sloppy Joe and a serving of leftover chicken plus abundant mac n'cheese supplies, so I'm sure we'll figure something out.

Watching
Oh my goodness, we need to talk TV.

On the treadmill: finished season 2 of Suits, which is entertaining, easy on the brain, and holds my attention while I'm pounding away on the treadmill, which is all that I need for a treadmill TV show.  And then I switched over to season 2 of Line of Duty (same folks who did Netflix's The Bodyguard) and now we're into OMG BEST SHOW EVER territory.  I saw season 1 last spring and it was good with a lower case g...and then wham season 2 is REALLY GOOD.  It's so good that it's hard to pull myself off the treadmill at when the workout is over.  I am spellbound by this show, and it's on Hulu if you want to join in with me.

On the couch: season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  I'm really understating the show when I say it has good acting, to the extent that you don't really think about "who" the actors are apart from every once in a while "hey Tony Shalhoub, nice to see ya".  It's taken me two seasons to figure out whoa that's Jane Lynch and wow Sterling K. Brown is there...and Bonnie from How to Get Away With Murder...who else is hiding in that cast?

Reading
Almost done with Force of Nature by Jane Harper.  More next week when I finish it but spoiler, it's a good one.

  1. Ok. First of all, I'm freaking hungry from your pictures. Yum. I realized I haven't had fast food in about a month and would do very bad things for some french fries.

We decided we are going to get rid of DirecTv, so I started poking around Netflix a little. Yesterday, I started watching "You" and it's actually fairly good.

    1. Hee hee, they are two very different shows. Suits is entertaining, Mrs. Maisel is GOOD.

  3. We plan to watch season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel after we get past Christmas. We watch the most TV January - March; otherwise, it's mostly just watching the Nationals and college football.

And as always, I'm drooling after looking at all of your picture. ;-)
