Weekly Sweats: All Treadmill All the Time

A tale of 20 treadmill miles and two weight workouts.  Getting outside was impossible this week so I buddied up with the tready and made the most of it with some excellent TV.

I'm linking up with the Weekly Run Down, please head over to Kim and Deborah to check it out.

Monday: 3 treadmill miles easy with strides, weights at lunch

Tuesday: 4 treadmill miles, 1 mile warm up, 3 x 8 minutes fast/3 minutes recover.

Wednesday: off!

Thursday: 4 treadmill miles, 1 mile warm up, 6 x 3 minutes fast/2-3 minutes recover.  At least that's what I think I did, I started watching ONE OF THE BEST TV SHOWS THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE and it was so good that I really didn't want to stop my workout.  Season 2 of Line of Duty on Hulu and you're welcome.

Friday: 3 treadmill hill miles, weights at lunch.  I hadn't done a treadmill hill workout for a few weeks, physically it wasn't bad but mentally it was a strugglefest even with great TV.  I finally broke my nearly two week streak of no breaks on the treadmill with this one, I just needed a minute to get my head right before starting mile 3.

Saturday: 6 treadmill miles easy.  Given a choice, I'd rather be outside on Saturdays but we had a big ol' mess of rain + snow + dreariness and our basement gym was warm and dry.  And no I didn't hate getting to watch an extra episode of Line of Duty and I runfess that I was kind of tempted to extend my run to see more of the show and that my attention will be a bit more on the TV than my fitness until I finish the show.

Sunday: off!

Next week's forecast: more of the same!

  1. You are killing those treadmill workouts! That is no easy task. Glad you have excellent TV to help you get through the miles. Sorry the weather has been so nasty. We've been very grey but overall it could be so much worse.

    1. The TV sure makes the miles fly by. Hopefully next weekend will be better and I'll get some outdoor time in.

  2. Bless you for your willingness to hop on the tready! You know I don't share your passion LOL Last winter was my biggest 'mill season ever (except for my first year as a runner, when I didn't know any different). I sometimes HAVE to do a 20-second pause between miles to clear my head, too. I'm leery of doing those pauses very often, though, because I then start NEEDING to pause more frequent, like at every 1/2 mile.

    1. Well, I have a passion in that it's either the treadmill or no running at all in the winter, since there aren't a lot of streetlights where I live and I've taken some falls in the dark. I definitely limit my pauses, because as we both know so well, once you stop it's that much harder to stop.

  3. Always nice to have the treadmill as an alternative, especially with the crazy weather this week - nice job!

    1. Agree. It has yet to rain or snow in my basement, the treadmill is always there.

  4. You are a treadmill warrior! So impressive and I guess if I had to run inside, I could. But ugh....I so prefer outdoors. Great job!

    1. Agree, I prefer outdoors as well, just not a fan of the dark or the cold.

  5. I am impressed by all of your treadmill workouts. I just have the hardest time on them although I am sure it would be more efficient while I am healing. I have not watched line of duty yet-will add to my list

    1. I know quite a few people who find treadmill running helpful for their injuries. Yes it's harder mentally, but at least for me it's really the only option on weekdays.

  7. Sometimes you just need to run on the treadmill. When that happens having something good to watch makes all the difference b

  8. That's great that you had such a good show to keep you occupied on the treadmill! Sometimes I feel like Netflix is all that gets me through treadmill workouts.
