This week's running report: 26.5 miles, 3 strength workouts, and 1 meltdown.

I ran short (sorry...I'm very punny) in the "want to" department this week. It's still winter, and yes I am so flipping happy that we have a treadmill but after 4 straight weeks the enthusiasm is wearing thin. Something is going down in my work world that isn't good...by all means give me "work" problems over "real" problems any day and I know how to handle the situation but I'm still pissed and let it get to me, which cost me a few nights of sleep.
On the bright side, "bump watch" is looking like a non-event. Last week I mentioned that I dropped something on my foot that left a bump and was starting to hurt...the bump is still there but the pain is not. And I'm still loving my new shoes. Believe me, the glass is half full even if it's frozen and a little salty.
Monday: weights and 4.3 slow treadmill miles
Tuesday: 6.3 steady paced treadmill miles
Wednesday: weights, no running
Thursday: 6.3 miles with a lil' speed to pep things up. A bunch of one minute fast/two minutes slow.
Friday: Oof! I did not sleep well due to my work pulling a dick move the previous day. I zombied my way through strength and 4.3 slow miles.
Saturday: Grr! I can shake off one bad night of sleep but not two. I knew right away that a long run was out of the question, and the more I thought about it, a short run was equally unappealing. I simply didn't have a "why" to run...I didn't want to and no one was chasing me. 0.0 miles is always a valid distance.
Sunday: Woot! I got my sleep and my "want" back. 5.3 miles with a bunch of 30 second speed bursts.
What's Next
More of the same! The forecast says another indoor week and work is gonna be work. I'm in a holding pattern on both fronts. Spring is coming;-)
It is hard to find enthusiasm for the treadmill I get it. Yes, I agree you have to want to run otherwise why do it? Sound like you had a decent workout week despite your work issues. Glad your foot is feeling better that's a plus. Hope you have a better week ahead

DeleteI remember this time of year well from my years up north. Everything seems so hopeless and never-ending... but it will end. Spring will be here and everything will look brighter. Hope you have a good week! Good luck with work.

DeleteI'm sorry to hear about the work stress. More importantly, at least you are still liking the shoes. :-) I saw a picture of the Launch in the tie dye version and they look so cute! Nope, not buying them...yet. No matter what you are still doing great in your running. Keep it up!

DeleteHolding pattern about sums it up! While I am grateful to have a TM, I'm going to run outside as long as it isn't icy. I know once we start that thaw/freeze cycle, there will be a lot of ice--so I'm saving my TM runs for then.

Yeah, we've been stuck with ice for a while. We've had quite a few sunny days this week so I'm hopeful it will melt away soon.
DeleteI have a treadmill now but it didn't come with extra enthusiasm to run on it...a combination of stress and bad sleep doesn't help AT ALL.

ReplyDeleteYou got in some decent treadmill miles last week. I'm scheduled to spin with a friend via Zoom shortly, but it's supposed to get up to 50° today so I may run later, too, before our next snow/ice storm hits tomorrow night into Thursday.
