It's the Eve of Thanksgiving Eve! Prep is underway so it's another short post tonight.
Holiday prep update: The kitchen has been deep cleaned and I bought the final round of groceries that we needed.
Apropos of nothing update: I bought makeup tonight for the first time since before the pandemic. I had to stop wearing eye makeup in my 30s due to eye sensitivity, and then when the pandemic started I stopped wearing all makeup except for special occasions. My concealer was totally dried out and I figured that my foundation wasn't in great shape either due to, you know, being at least three years old. It was time.
Question of the day: do you wear makeup? More or less than before the pandemic?

I have to stop by the store, after work tomorrow, to get the last of the T-Day food. I spent the greater part of this afternoon volunteering at packet pick-up for the DSM Turkey Trot. I'm running my local trot, but felt like "giving back" to the running community...and they gave me a t-shirt and a cute pom-pom beanie (you know I'm all about funky fashion, LOL). Yes, to the makeup question. I don't wear much, but I never leave the house without at least a smudge of eyeliner and lipstick.
ReplyDeleteFunky fashion and swag FTW!!!
DeleteI used to be the kind of a girl who would never leave the house without eyeliner, and it felt really strange when I had to give it up because it was bugging my eyes.
I rarely where make-up and never really have except for special occasions. I have sensitive skin so that is part of it.
ReplyDeleteI feel you! While I'm usually fine, sometimes traces of makeup get into my eyes and that's not fun.
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving Eve! Hope it's fun and delicious and wonderful in every way!
ReplyDeleteYou too Elizabeth!
DeleteThe day before Thanksgiving Eve, that would be Thanksgiving Adam!
ReplyDeleteI don't wear makeup, and other than experimenting with it as a teen, never really have. I have sensitive skin and wear contacts, so I found it to be more work to make it work than I was interested in doing. I'm never without lip balm, but I don't think that counts!
I love the joke! Yes, I get it. Makeup is no fun when it's uncomfortable.
DeleteOh yes, prep is underway here as well. To answer your question, I never wear makeup. I know this is unusual, but I just never started wearing makeup when I was younger so I wouldn't even have a clue how to do it now. As I'm getting older, there are definitely some issues, ahem, that undoubtably would be improved by makeup, but it just seems like it wold be weird to start now.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
I feel like the prime time to wear makeup was in my mid 30s. Before then there was no point, around the mid-30s a touch of under-eye concealer definitely concealed. Now it just draws attention to my under-eye area, which is the opposite of the goal.
DeleteDO I WEAR MAKEUP. LOLOLOLOLOL YES.
ReplyDeleteI wear makeup every single day, and I did all through the pandemic, and unless I essentially have one foot in the grave, I will put on makeup. Even when I'm sick, even when I'm not going anywhere. I love makeup and it is such a fun, nice part of my day. I also don't really like the way I look without makeup. Someone said to me that "well, you like to look nice for your husband " and NO. That has nothing to do with it. I like to like the way I look when I look in the mirror.
I used to enjoy makeup and yes it was fun. I remember the first time that I let my husband see me without makeup when we were dating. Right now it's less fun since I can't wear eye makeup at all. All that I can really accomplish is evening out my skin tone and not having a big ol' shinny forehead.
DeleteYay!!! I have been to the grocery store 55 times. (Okay, FOUR, but that's too many.). I never want to go to the grocery store again.
ReplyDeleteYou just took me back to the pandemic when the grocery store was the only time that I left the house. Even then when it was my only outside activity that wasn't enough to make it attractive. If I had my way, I'd go to Costco and TJ's once a month and skip all of the rest.
DeleteI wear makeup in a professional setting or when I see my in-laws. LOL. If I am working from home and don't have any video meetings, I don't wear it, but if I'm going in, I do put it on. It's fun and makes me feel more confident.
ReplyDeleteI get that. About half of the time I wear makeup for job interviews (all virtual, if I was doing in person then I would wear it for sure).
DeleteI've never worn a ton of makeup, but definitely less since the pandemic started... I do like to have foundation and concealer on hand though. Do you have a go-to?
ReplyDeleteNot anymore. I used to use Revlon but this time I picked up a Neutrogena foundation/powder all-in-one.
DeleteAlso not a makeup wearer, and I'm even worse - I don't own a tinted anything right now. Part of the challenge is that my face can rapidly change color (chronic illness-related) and so nothing can really work for all the different shades my skin takes on throughout the day. I've learned to live with it. :) Oh, and my eyes are the same - I have NEVER been able to tolerate mascara, even "sensitive eyes" mascara.
