Weekly Eats: Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

A weekly round up: eats, watches, and reads.  This week we had one heck of a success in the family dinner department, so much so that I'm going to skip over this week's breakfasts and lunches and just talk dinner for this week's food recap.

Weekly Eats: Reheat Edition

A weekly round up: eats, watches, and reads.  To offset the cold, I made a chicken pot pie and experimented by using the air fryer and oven instead of the microwave to reheat leftovers.

Weekly Sweats: Morning Edtion

All of my workouts went down underground this week: 25 miles of treadmill running in my lovely basement and 3 weight lifting workouts in the basement gym at my office.   I'm going to tell you all about that and for fun talk about how I started working out in the morning.

Weekly Eats: Tofu Thoughts

A weekly round up: eats, watches, and reads.  This week was insanely busy on the work front.  I love my job, and normally it's nice about containing itself between 9 to 5, but this week was a brutal exception.  I had some very late evenings this week, two days in a row where I was so late that I not only missed dinner with the fam but also our nightly dog walk.  I'm so happy to finally have a few minutes to chat about it all and fingers crossed hopefully everything is settled down now?

Weekly Sweats: Humble Pie Edition

A tale of 23 miles and frustration with my work life.  Werk has been pretty heavy duty lately and my first full week in the office after Christmas break came down hard with no mercy.  The only way that workouts happen in weeks like these is when they happen at dark o'clock in the morning.

I'm not really training for anything except life right now.  I don't need to start training for my April half for a few more weeks (and anyway my half marathon training plan is just "run a lot"), so the goal now is to start increasing my mileage a bit.  In full transparency, my body was not impressed with the treadmill this week, and you'll see that a few of my workouts came with a side of humble pie.  That's life friends, I wouldn't have anything to write about if everything was easy.

Weekly Eats: Sunday Chili on Saturday

A weekly round up: eats, watches, and reads.  In this week's edition I found a surprising use for sauerkraut and we tried a fancy chili recipe and discovered that we are fancy people.

Weekly Sweats: A New Year's Eve 5k

This week I ran my slowest 5k in a while (there's more to the story, it was a good race), took a cutback week, and dipped a toe back into strength training.  12.4 miles of running this week.

2020 State of the Run

Before we get started
I am not qualified to give advice on any subject let alone running.  This is what works for me and the trials and errors that got me here.  The only thing I know for sure is that you should do you.

My Running Plans for 2019 (here)
  • Run > 1,000 miles
  • Do the Strava Lululemon challenge in January
  • Run six races: my first half marathon (!), another half marathon, two 5ks, a 10k, a marathon relay (5 miles) for 43.6 miles of racing.
What actually happened in 2019
  • All of the above and so much more
