Weekly Eats: Yada Yada, Yada

A weekly roundup: eats, watches, and reads.  In this week's edition we found stuff to eat, though nothing too exciting, and I'm set in the TV and book departments.

Breakfasts

The usual Cliff bar & coffee pre-workout, snack afterwards.

Lunches

I upped my fried rice game by adding mushrooms and kimchi.

Dinners

Monday: leftover tacos

Tuesday: mac n'cheese with chicken tenders.

Wednesday: a repeat of last week.  We had no kids so we got Chipotle and watched it on the couch with Seinfeld.  My husband eats a lot slower than I do, and I finally have a way to quantify that.  It takes me somewhere between 30 seconds to 5 minutes to inhale my sofritas tacos and it took him an entire episode of Seinfeld to eat his burrito.

Thursday: Leftover cleanout.  Hubs finished off the tacos and I had the last of the spinach artichoke pasta that I'd frozen a few weeks ago.  It was a case of "too much for one portion/not enough for two" and I enjoyed my supersized dinner.

Friday: out on the town to pick up takeout from the Mexican place.  And when I say "takeout" that includes margaritas;-)

Saturday: burgers al fresco

Sunday: Two Peas and Their Pod Steak Kabobs.

Watching

With the hubs: Two classics plus assorted episodes of Seinfeld on Hulu.

First up: Bullit.  When hubs suggested it, I knew that I had seen it at some point, and remembered a car chase in San Fransisco and a cop who was kidnapped and injected with heroin.  Hubs didn't remember the heroin part.  The more we saw of the movie, the more I couldn't reconcile Steve MacQueen to my vague memories of the "San Francisco Heroin Movie"...I could see the face in my mind but I just couldn't get the name...or the name of the movie....all of which is to explain why I randomly blurted out "GENE HACKMAN!!!  FRENCH CONNECTION!!!!"

(P.S. Google tells me that French Connection II is the movie that I was remembering, but it doesn't seem like San Francisco is part of the story line so who knows where that came from.  If you need to know anything about any movie from the 20's to the 40's I am your girl but by the time we get to the 60's things get murky.)

Anyway, Bullit...good movie.

Next up was the Marx Brothers and A Night at the Opera.  Lots of laughs, not much strain on the brain.

And finally I have been in a drought for regular TV shows for a good long while and I feel like I have literally tried and not been able to get into every single show on Netflix.  So 🚨🚨🚨breaking news I am really, really in to Dr. Foster 🚨🚨🚨   I'm 3 episodes in and it is just so, so good.  Idk if this makes sense, but I like suspense (a.k.a. things where I can't figure out what's going to happen next) but I don't like scary stuff (a.k.a I'm not into seeing bad things happen to people, whether they deserve it or not, if I wanted that I'd watch the news).  Dr. Foster really delivers here, it's so suspenseful that I'm sitting on the edge of the couch biting my nails but I'm not particularly worried that anyone is going to boil a bunny or something like that.  It's a good one.

Reading

The tide has turned here as well!  I've lost count of the people who recommended The Guest List by Lucy Foley and there's a reason for the raves.  I love a good tribute to And Then There Were None.  It would be all to easy to binge this one but I'm trying to take my time and enjoy the ride.

  1. Those shish-kabobs look amazing! And Seinfeld...say no more. It's only the BEST tv sitcom ever (in my ever-so-humble opinion). You know it's pure gold when the grown son (age 23) is willing to binge watch a few episodes with his mom and dad, and laughs at all the crazy stuff right along with them ;-)

    1. Word! It's our go to when we need something to watch. The kids are just starting to pay attention to it so that's a lot of fun as well.

  2. Dr Foster sounds like something I would enjoy! Thanks for the tip. Right now I'm watching Biohackers on Netflix. Quite good in the beginning, but now it's getting a little drawn-out.
This week I love your Monday Taco best!
Seriously, how can your husband spend a whole Seinfeld episode on a burrito!? ;-)

    1. I just finished season 1 and WOW! Jury's out on season 2, I can't tell if they're just trying to squeeze more juice out of the same lemon or if they're going somewhere with it.

    1. The pasta is one of my all time favs. It's easy, it's good, and it's very freezer friendly.

  6. Even your leftovers look amazing! We picked up Tex Mex carryout tonight and it was the first time since COVID struck that I DIDN'T order margaritas to go. We enjoyed a Kirkland's golden margarita wine cocktail instead. Have you tried that?
